his friends told him about “Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing”. Dawson decided to take a leap of faith and see if things work
this time. Dawson’s first self-published book “TheBlack Mile” – a thriller
set in London’s West End between 1940 and 1970 again failed to perform. So this

He gave away books for free.
Dawson gave “The Black Mile” for free through Amazon’s KDP Select program. If you offer a free or a discounted
book, it might rank on Amazon’s Top 100 Free List or Top 100 Paid list which in
return gives your book a higher exposure and is more likely to be seen and
downloaded. In Dawson’s case, readers grabbed 50000 copies of “The Black Mile” within a week.
He concentrated on Facebook Ads.
The key to Facebook ad success is selecting a target audience and then experimenting on them with small amounts for analyzing the conversion rate. Dawson spent $ 370 a day on Facebook ads, according to Forbes and earned double the amount.
He started Promoting the book on Facebook.
Dawson started engaging himself with his community of Facebook. He also holds seminars to guide and advise the newbies. From there he collects names and email addresses which add to his dedicated and loyal fan base.
Time Management.
Dawson is one those writers who were trying to break into a career
of a writer while maintaining his day job. He started writing a six-book series
on a British
assassin John Milton. He managed to write thousands
of words by using his four-hour daily commute to London. As soon as he boarded
the train he opened up his laptop, wrote continuously until it was time to get
off. That’s how he finished his books and had sold more than 300000 copies
bagging “six figures” last year. Pretty cool isn't it?
